Welcome to the Waupaca Chain O'Lakes District

The Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes District (“WCOLD”), is a special purpose unit of government with powers granted by WI Statutes Chapter 33, which are focused on lake management and the provision of services to property located within its established boundaries; and

Lake Districts work cooperatively with other governmental bodies and private organizations on boating law enforcement, safety, personal property protection, erosion control, and other programs important to the lake or watershed; and 

Lake Districts can conduct a broad range of activities to manage and enhance the lakes they are organized around, including monitoring water quality, inventorying and monitoring aquatic plants, mapping the watershed, identifying pollution sources, developing long-range lake management plans, educational efforts, wetland restoration, acquisition of land to protect sensitive areas, erosion control, invasive or nuisance aquatic plant management,  creating boating ordinances, operating water safety patrols, boater safety classes, and developing information/educational tools (maps, signs, brochures); and

The District Board comprises seven commissioners (five of whom are elected to three-year terms, and one appointee is elected by the county and one by the Town of Farmington).

The Commissioners receive no compensation for their time and effort.
