WAUPACA CHAIN O'LAKES DISTRICT

Lake District Projects:

Clean Boats/Clean Waters

The Lake District works in cooperation with the Waupaca Chain O'Lakes Association and Golden Sands, of Stevens Point, to provide boat inspections at various boat launches, around the Chain, to educate boaters on the effects of transporting invasive species. The lake district partially funds this project through a grant provided by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resoures.

The District is always in need of volunteers to man the boat landings on weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Volunteers work either from 9:30am to 12:00pm or 12:00pm to 2:30pm. Please contact the District to volunteer!

AIS Control

The Lake District coordinates the treatment of aquatic invasive species (AIS) on the Chain along with personnel from the DNR and our contracted applicator.  A survey to locate invasive species is completed in early spring with the treatment of those invasives completed by early summer.  In late summer, an additional survey is completed to assess the results of the treatment.  Again, this project is partially funded by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
